Fear pleasure II: The wall

2007, video installation.
Taenu Exhibition-Tactile Bosch, Cardiff (2008)

Those two video installations were the result of a claustrophobic experience I had on an airplane. The idea was to recreate the emotional intensity of a timeless seclusion in a restricted place, where you gradually experience a built in , or being buried situation to a point of exhaustion, of almost a fear-pleasure sublimity before the inevitable.

In this sense, I tried to create an assimilative environment, projecting directly on the ceiling, as if you were secluded and buried in an atrium, or using a back side projection on a door space of a room with no other exit-escape.

I have accepted the some times low tech result of the camera struggling to focus in one long shot, as a secret comfort, as a hint to a non real situation
